Yasser Arafat Museum hosts the eulogy of the Arab novelist Haider Haidar

Today, Wednesday, June 14, 2023, the Ministry of Culture, organized a memorial service for Syrian Arab author Haider Haidar at the Yasser Arafat Museum in Ramallah.


The eulogy began with the Palestinian national Anthem, followed by a greeting from the host, Abdul Salam Al-Atari.


Dr. Ahmed Soboh, Director General of the Yasser Arafat Foundation, addressed the audience and asked them to observe a minute of silence before reading Al-Fatiha on the soul of the martyr President Yasser Arafat, author Haider Haidar, and other Palestinian and Arab martyrs.


Dr. Soboh praised the writer and novelist Haidar Haidar, a Palestinian at heart who was born and reared in Syria.


In the same context, Culture Minister Atef Abu Seif stated that this eulogy commemorates the spirit of Syrian writer Haidar Haidar for what he presented to the Palestinian cause and revolution and that it is a responsibility owed to everyone who worked and battled for Palestine.


Abu Seif expressed gratitude to the Yasser Arafat Foundation for its support in commemorating the legacy of writer Haidar Haidar.


Nabil Amr, a writer, and a politician, also emphasized the necessity of commemorating those writers who have contributed to the Palestinian cause, since this is what has allowed the Palestinian cause to survive and thrive. Amr thanked the Yasser Arafat Foundation for holding this eulogy, which held the name of the Palestinian father and originator of the Palestinian cause, Yasser Arafat.


Author Haidar Haidar was born in Tartous, Syria, in 1936, and died on May 5, 2023. He was a nationalist writer who vowed to defend the Arab nation's causes, particularly the Palestinian cause, as he participated in the Palestinian resistance through his role in the unified Palestinian media and the Union of Palestinian Writers and Journalists in Beirut.
