Our Homeland Is Our Homeland, the inaugural exhibit of the Yasser Arafat Museum Exhibition Hall, officially opened Monday, the 19th of December 2016. The exhibit features new work of Palestinian artists Suleiman Mansour, Nabil Anani, Tayseer Barakat and Ahmad Canaan. Attending the opening with the artists were Ehab Bseiso, Palestinian Minister of Culture; Dr. Nasser Alkidwa, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Yasser Arafat Foundation; Dr. Nabil Qassis, Chairman of the Yasser Arafat Museum Committee; Dr. Ahmad Soboh, Director General of the Yasser Arafat Foundation; Mohammad Halayka, Director of the Yasser Arafat Museum, among many other prominent Palestinians, internationals and media outlets. The exhibit was on view to the public for six months, through the 19th of June 2017.
The Yasser Arafat Museum officially opened in November 2016. The opening ceremony featured remarks by President Mahmoud Abbas, Secretary-General of the Arab League Ahmed AbulGheit, and other Arab and international personalities. The Museum presents the narrative of the Palestinian Contemporary National Movement and displays the innate character of Arafat’s office and living quarters, where he was confined by the Israeli occupying power in 2004.
