Kafr Qasem massacre :

On the 29th of October 1956, Israeli army units attack and impose a curfew on the village of Kafr Qasem, close to the armistice line on the Israeli side. Although the mayor of the village informs the Israeli forces that nearly 400 residents are working outside the village and unaware of the curfew, the villagers are attacked when they return; 48 Palestinians, including women and children, are massacred.
 

 

October War:
On the 6th of October 1973, Egypt and Syria launch a massive attack against Israeli military positions in the occupied Arab territories, in what is considered the fourth Arab-Israeli War.  The Egyptian Army dramatically succeeds in crossing the Suez Canal, destroying the “Bar Lev” defense line, and advances into the Sinai Peninsula.  The Israeli Army later sends units through the Suez Canal to Egypt.
 

 

Hammam Alshat :
On the 1st of October 1985, Israeli fighter jets bomb the Palestine Liberation Organization headquarters and office of Yasser Arafat in Hammam Alshat in Tunisia.  Sixty-eight Palestinians and Tunisians are killed.
 

 

 

Nobel Peace Prize:
Yasser Arafat, Yitzhak Rabin and Shimon Peres are awarded the Nobel Peace Prize on the 26th of October 1994, “for their efforts to create peace in the Middle East.”
