Mohammad Halaika, Director of the Yasser Arafat Museum, has been elected Chairman of the Board of the Palestinian Museums Association on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, in addition to joining the Palestinian Council for Museum Accreditation.

The newly established association aims to strengthen Palestine’s role as an active member of the International Council of Museums (ICOM), a global organization representing 139 countries and over 60,000 museum professionals, including the Arab Museums Council. Its priorities include building institutional capacity, translating strategic goals into action, and advancing the Palestinian museum sector through inclusive programs, activities, and cultural initiatives that engage professionals and enthusiasts in both tangible and intangible heritage fields. It is worth noting that the Palestinian Museums Association was officially founded on September 17, 2025.
