On Wednesday, 2/8/2023, the President of the Republic of Cyprus, "Nikos Christodoulides," and his accompanying team, laid a wreath at the tomb of the late President Yasser Arafat. In the presence of Dr. Riyad Al-Maliki, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, the president and his delegation also visited the Yasser Arafat Museum.
Dr. Ahmed Sobh, Director General of the Yasser Arafat Foundation, and Muhammad Halayqa, Director of the Yasser Arafat Museum, welcomed the Cypriot President and the accompanying delegation and briefed them on the details of the museum exhibit, which recounts the most important events, developments, and aspects related to the Palestinian cause during the hundred years preceding President Yasser Arafat's martyrdom.
The President and his group toured the Yasser Arafat Museum, where they looked at the Palestinian national cause timeline and the biography of the late President Yasser Arafat, the Palestinian people's historical leader.
The delegation accompanying the Cypriot President included the Cypriot ambassador to Palestine, Demetris Assos, and the Palestinian ambassador to Cyprus, Abdullah Attari.
The Cypriot president noted in the VIP book at the end of his visit, "The Yasser Arafat Museum is a tribute to the historical leader of Palestine, Yasser Arafat, and illuminates important aspects of Palestinian history." I sincerely hope that one day, the museum will document the establishment of the independent and sovereign state of Palestinian."
